the times that people actually enjoyed helping others (not just guildies, allies and friends)
the times that builds didnt really matter(same with heroes), but we made the best of it
the times i got help to get through the game
the times where people wanted to join others, even though they didnt need that quest, mission or other activity (again, not just friends, allies and guildies)
the times where we didnt need a title rank to join teams (not just pvp)
guess thats enough for now, and half the reasons i dont join GW2
there are people left who have these points, but they are rare nowadays

I just decided I wanted cartographer on my new rit (new compared to my gwamm necro), as part of that i did surmia mission. But it brought up memories of a time when you were 4 lvl10-12 newbs who actually had to struggle to complete it. Standing on that plateau defendign rurik against the attacking charr while he cast ritual to open the door leading to the magic gate to the academy and being nervous we couldnt manage it. Now I stood there waiting for rurik to finish and no charr came rushing, i had cleared the place when mapping...
Or when you could actually stand in yaks bend and sell a half decent purple item for 1 plat and that made you feel rich. Everybody were passing by yaks, also because of the quests there, and there were actually pugs for these quests. And lots of people didnt have any good weapon , they would be happy if they could get a max wep with any kind of bonus for 1k.

*better attitudes in general(willingness to improve, respect) /
*championships instead of mats/
*more depth in actions of players during matches/
*frequent updates without manipulation of players like what is going on with the tk now/
*vod (although this wasn't perfect neither)/
Thats about all I can think of atm.

I have been reading through all this and wow. i started playing this game in january 2007 the game was so confusing. All these Skills, my first character was Warrior as most are, i remember finding the skill FireStorm and thinkin THIS IS IT! RUINS OF SURMIA IM GOING TO BURN U TO THE GROUND. The game has changed in so many ways, everyone misses a certain aspect of the past. who cares if GW is "dead" i still have fun getting to 30 maxed titles, GW is the best game i ever played honestly and i would not change it.

True, but with Prophecies came the phenomenon of never having so much fun while playing so poorly

this is easy for me..... by far forming a group(you know before the heroes came around) that was half the fun playing through the game with real people

I agree, there is no game that made me come back so many times as GW does.
What I miss is the sense of adventure when playing a campaign for the first time and seeing all the sights. I like how the game progresses and at the end you have to fight the evil boss. You really have a sense of fullfillment when completing a campaign, unlike so many other mmorpg's where there is absolutely no closure.
But I have done it all to many times now and with all things it slowly loses its shine.
What I dont miss are the countless nostalgia threads that I have seen popping up over the last 2 years lol
Can we make this the final one?

I miss the freshness of a new game, the constant updating and the "new build available".

i just miss those days when all the places were filled with players and finding a party was cake...I checked my Guild player list and many have not logged in for 3 years... I, myself, have not logged in for 2 years. Just recently logged back in again..
very sad and disappointed, but nothing lasts forever..

this game would be totally awesome, if it had random dungeon/map generator with different enemies in different locations everytime like Diablo.

I miss
I miss the newness, the wow factor. I remember the first time I unknowingly triggered the pre to post searing element, and how shocked I was at the difference.
